Chin Woo Introduction

From 6 May 2000 New South Wales Chin Woo Athletics Association Incorporation is a not-for-profit organisation. Its main mission is to promote Chinese culture, Wushu, mental and physical fitness in the local community. It also works closely with other local associations.

Since establishment, the people of Australia have been introduced to and are learning the art of Chin Woo. We teach Traditional Chin Woo style, Law Han, Shaolin, Law Han, Mantis, and Tai Chi. Wushu is well known for its speed and power and its smooth circular body movements and its flexible footwork. It emphasises the intelligent use of strength and combination of external force with the internal will constant practice of Chin Woo Athletics Association with the health proloning your life and giving its students a sense of self confidence. We offer a complete system of self defence and self cultivation. We do it as an art form and a sport.

Traditionally, the level of attainment in Chin Woo Athletics Association can be divded into three stages:

  1. Primary
  2. Seconday
  3. Tertiary

Each stage takes more than two years. First you must remember correctly what has been taught. Then practise enough so it becomes second nature. Then practise until further so that each movement can be executed with power, speed and accuracy. After basic training, then you will be asked to undertake the grading test. When you have passed the test, the Primary certificate with a yellow star is awarded. After upgrading and specialised training, the Secondary certificate is awarded with a blue star. After superior training, the Tertiary certificate is a red star.

We hope that in the near future it will be able ot offer other aspects of Chinese cultural fine arts such as Chinese singin, dancing, calligraphy, painting, cooking, opera singing and acting. The Association is run by people who are genuinely interested in promoting Chinese culture and who contribute their time and effort voluntarily.
